What is the best way you think R36 can be spent each month? Some oakes whould probably reckon 2 drafts at Barney's or perhaps some kfc on the way to the labs gearing up for a rough night.
Let me help you out here. Get yourself a DSTV Drifta! Why? Let me tell you. What could hounestly be better than pulling late nights with the Roland Garros just a blink away, or following the Cardashians's every move.
The device is smaller than your average selfone and the connection is effortless. Quality of picture could have been better, but is still more than good enough to keep you happy.
Even better, if you have an existing DSTV account the connection for the drifta is for free.
Trust me on this one, just get it!

3D Max rendering
Attached is my atempt at creating a 3d rendering of my chosen picture.
I am amazed at how much easier we got to a better result with 3D Max rather than Cad 3d.
This rendering still needs some attention.

B-Tech Knysna visit
Early last month our B-Tech group visited Thesen Island situated on a island in the Knysna lagoon.
It was my first time on the"Island" and to be honest i didn't have a clue what to expect.
We were fortunate to be able to get an in depth walktrough of the island from one of the leading architects that worked on the project.
The size and complexity of the undertaking was truly enormous and one's mind is limited to what u've seen and experienced, making this visit priceless.
The determanation and drive shown by the Architectural firm to have stuck with their guns through thick and thin is absolutely amazing.
When u've got the opportunity to make a turn on Thesen islands, do so, It's worth a visit!

CAD 3d hand in
After a serious late night we've eventually finished and submitted our first DKP task for 2011.
I'm not entirely satisfied with the completion of my rendering as time ran out on me before propper completion.
The next task has been discussed and now of to 3D Max to see how we can improve on this rendering.
Strongs!

So much for having a pitched roof!
This student was ademant to use a flat roof in his design but as the brief clearly stated "only pitched roofs" he decided to improvise.

Urban design lecture
Yesterday i've sat through a 2-hour lecture on urban design and more importantly propper site analyses.
To be truthfull it was a real eye opener and surprisingly everything was relevant. I think we have most of the knowledge in our minds already but have never been shown or tought how to aproach the important matter of a propper site analysis before the start of any design.
Perhaps this could be implemented as a 1st Semester 2nd year module as i've learnt so much in only two hours which has already had a serious impact on my Biokinetic building's design.
It feels to me like this is one of the most important aspects of design and i would definitly have been a more capable designer with this knowledge.

The past weekend on my way to Uitenhage ive noticed simular solar powered geysers installed on RDP housing in the area of Kwadwesi next to the Uitehage Road.
I've also noted that some of the houses have burned down aswell as some roofs that colapsed.
Somehow this just does not seem like a propper option to save electricity for the area as these geysers are seriously expensive.
Would these provide a solution to the reason i'ts been installed for in the first place or better would they last long enough?
